Riverside Museum
About the project
The Riverside Museum in Glasgow is one of the city’s most iconic buildings. Recipient of many awards including European Museum of the Year 2013, it is architect Zaha Hadid’s beautiful response to the City’s requirement to re-home their museum of transport. Located on the north bank of the River Clyde, the museum proudly contributes to the Glasgow skyline alongside the nearby Glasgow Science Centre, the Clyde Auditorium (Armadillo) and the newly-built Hydro, both by Norman Foster.
We’ve been photographing it for a number of clients since the derelict site of Inglis Shipyard was identified as the museum’s new home. Consequently, we have an enviable and complete collection of stunning images taken since 2004 to date.
In addition to documenting the construction for Clyde Waterfront, we photographed for Buro Happold, BAM Construction, Building magazine, Glasgow City Council and many more. In 2012, McAteer Photograph was commissioned by Zaha Hadid to photograph the completed building, the resulting images being published in international design, architecture and tourism magazines as far as South Korea, Italy, China, Spain and the United States. Most recently, Alan’s images were used in an artist monograph which exhibits Hadid’s global importance as an architect, designer and artist by presenting her ten building milestones and introducing Zaha’s latest New York project, 520 West 28th.
Footnote, Spring 2016… It is with great sadness and respect that we doff our caps to Ms Hadid. She was brave and visionary in all aspects of her life and work and the world of culture and architecture is poorer for her passing and richer for her legacy.
