Hinterland
About the project
Alan was invited to photograph Hinterland, at St Peter’s Seminary, Kilmahew. The event which marked the start of Scotland’s Festival of Architecture was another groundbreaking offering from NVA who brought together visual artists, composers, choralists and performers to breathe life into what was once and still is, an amazing building. Alan has photographed with NVA’s Angus Farquar for nearly 20 years, creating stunning images of his memorable and meaningful events and Hinterland didn’t disappoint. Bringing together his two loves of architecture and lighting, Hinterland gave Alan an opportunity to record the start of the conversion of the iconic modernist ruin from a dilapidated Roman Catholic seminary into a creative arts centre. We can’t wait. It’s the best setting ever and sure to inspire some wonderful works in the years to come. To follow it’s progress, take a look at NVA’s site.
