Glasgow School of Art, Mackintosh Building restoration
The Mackintosh Building at Glasgow School of Art is being cared for and tended to in such an incredible way. Alan will always say, it’s an amazing privilege to be part of the restoration process. It’s fascinating really. Every time he makes a visit to the Mack new discoveries have been made, architectural details that haven’t been seen since it was first built have been uncovered and new ideas have been formed as to where to take the building for future generations of students and visitors to be able to use and enjoy the space once again.
Progress is picking up apace and the Invitation to tender has gone out to five contractors who will bid for the restoration work and the announcement made in early summer. In the meantime, GSA’s Digital Design Studios have created 3D visualisations of various spaces to help document the restoration process. More can be found on that at the GSA blogspot.
