Clyde Waterfront was a strategic partnership comprising the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise, Glasgow City, Renfrewshire and West Dunbartonshire Councils. Its purpose was to promote the economic, social and environmental regeneration of 13 miles of the River Clyde from Glasgow city centre to Dumbarton.

McAteer Photograph joined the Clyde Waterfront team two years into their life in 2005 to document the regeneration of the Clyde corridor. This was a continual project where we project-managed a shootlist of over 500 development, infrastructure and public realm projects. Now, our collection of over 20,000 images provides a unique visual record of a decade in the River Clyde’s history.

As well as the project photography, we also photographed boat trips, events, shot 360 views and panoramas of specific locations and time-lapsed some demolition and construction. Although our initial role was as architectural and commercial photographer and project management, it grew to involve the wider team as we took on more responsibility. On behalf of Clyde Waterfront, we managed their image library and illustrated all three of Clyde Watefront’s websites. We managed the visual content on a daily basis across the news, project and gallery sections of their websites. We were a key member of the marketing team consisting of the client (SE’s Clyde Waterfront marketing and project managers), PR team, web developer, copywriter and graphic designers.

Clyde Waterfront itself came to an end in March 2014 but their legacy site, featuring thousands of McAteer Photograph’s images can be seen at clydewaterfront.com
