The chemicals team at Scottish Enterprise invited McAteer Photograph to help them compose a collection of images relevant to the industrial biotechnology sector. SE’s mission is to grow turnover related to industrial biotechnology in Scotland to £900m by 2025. IB applications have the potential to transform many of Scotland’s key sectors, deliver new innovation, inward investment and exporting opportunities and contribute to Scotland’s transition to a low carbon economy.
Our focus for this collection was to be images of particular natural biological resources that are being used to create IB products: crops, kelp, trees, woodchips. Research and planning were key to this project so we spoke to scientists on the west coast of Scotland, farmers in the east and foresters in the middle to understand what we should be photographing and create a timeline to follow over the summer weeks to coincide with annual tides and harvests.
This was a particularly rewarding project that took us to some beautiful parts of Scotland and gave our client a coherent and relevant collection of images to add to their library for use in future marketing materials that support this exciting growth sector.
